Artificial Lawn Company has launched a fully recyclable premium artificial grass product which offers all the benefits inherent in the company's product without compromising on the quality of its performance. This means that homeowners, landscapers or specifiers who are keen to maintain a focus on sustainability can benefit from the low maintenance, soft and vibrant artificial lawn, with the assurance that at the end of its life (anything between 10-20 years), it can be taken up and fully recycled.
The traditional latex backing of the company's Landscape PET lawn has been replaced with polypropylene to bring it in line with the top side grass pile, enabling the product to be lifted up and put straight into the recycling process without any additional costly and complicated steps. Previously the backing was manufactured from latex, which meant that the grass had to be physically deconstructed - an energy intensive, costly and complex process.
"We have been working towards creating a sustainable artificial lawn product for some time now, and know that it is an area which is of concern to many environmentalists," commented Artificial Lawn Company surveyor and sales professional Sam Baylis. "The challenge has been to find the right combination without losing any of the innate quality of our product - the Landscape PET grass is a quality product and particularly popular with pet owners as the polypropylene backing provides extra drainage.
"The issue of recycling has long been a moot point when it comes to artificial grass products, and has been a focus for the industry as a whole for some time," continued Sam Baylis. "We still have some way to go. We have trialled a product manufactured from recycled plastic, but the quality was still a long way off - it wore down too quickly and became flat, which affected the overall aesthetics and performance of the grass. As a result we went back to the drawing board, and have a Landscape Lawn product which is manufactured using virgin plastic, but which can be put back into the system when done."
The Landscape Lawn consists of hard wearing, long lasting C-shaped memory fibres with a pile length of 30mm. This durable product will continue to look good no matter the weather, which makes it ideal both for residential garden projects as well as commercial projects where low maintenance, longevity and good looks are important.
Available in 2m or 4m widths, Artificial Lawn Company can do a supply only, or a supply and installation service (geography dependent) with a 10 year guarantee as standard.
