Collaborations for Change Conference

Collaborations for Change Conference

Event News

We are delighted to announce that the Collaborations for Change Conference is taking place at Keele University on the 19th - 21st June 2018.

The conference theme, Collaborations for Change, Global Goals for Tomorrow's Education, Today, recognises the critical role academics, researchers, students, sustainability leaders and support staff in universities and colleges have to play in finding and implementing a solution to climate change, and realising the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with partnership working.

Inspired by United Nations Sustainable Development Goal no.17, a successful approach to leading change for sustainability requires a new commitment to partnership and cooperation. These must be inclusive partnerships, built upon principles and values, a shared vision, and shared goals that place people and the planet at the centre. They are needed across every part of our learning institutions and between us and wider local, national and international stakeholders.

In the context of significant political and sectoral challenge, change and opportunity, this conference repositions sustainability as a foundation to build positive new cross-sector collaborations for change.

The packed conference will take place on 19th – 21st June at Keele University and will be filled with insight and ideas aimed at delegates from every area of campus life from the further and higher education sector. The Campus Conference will take place alongside the Academic Conference - building a unique and powerful cross discipline and sector opportunity to achieve the Global Goals and research and education fit for tomorrow.

Headlining the agenda, we have a number of inspiring keynote sessions. We will welcome Fiona Harvey, award winning environmental journalist for The Guardian, Ioan Fazey, Professor of the Social Dimensions of Environmental Change at the University of Dundee and Shakira Martin, NUS President and Jonathon Porritt, Founder Director of Forum for the Future and Chancellor of Keele University - all delivering thought provoking talks around the conference theme Collaborations for Change.

During the conference, there will also be more than 35 optional breakout sessions, all of which are streamed around the Sustainable Development Goals and allow delegates to tailor their conference experience to suit their job role and experience level. So whether you’re a Director of Estates, Energy, Travel or Waste Professional, an Estates and Facility Manager or a Lecturer, Curriculum Designers, post-graduate researchers, the EAUC Conference will offer sessions relevant for your role. Key workshops of interest will include:

As host institution, Keele University will also deliver a number of sessions throughout the conference to showcase their sustainability initiatives. These will include discussions around their Smart Energy Living Labs and dropping sustainability into education.
