Leeds City College has won an accolade at the prestigious Leeds Architecture Awards 2016. The Printworks Campus scooped the Altered Building award at the ceremony that took place at Leeds Town Hall last week.
The awards celebrated the very best of Leeds’ many developments that were completed over the last three years. Judged by a panel of experts including British architectural designer, Kit Martin CBE and former civic architect, John Thorp MBE, the Printworks Campus was recognised for its innovative renovation to the historic building.
The Printworks Phase 3 project has received £8,998,358 investment through the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Growth Deal – a £1 billion package of government investment to accelerate growth and create jobs across Leeds City Region.
Among the shortlisted schemes for the Altered Building category, were Street Lane Nursery, Algernon Firth Building, Carlton Green, Crispin Lofts, Edward Boyle Library and Seacroft Grange Care Village.

This iconic building houses contemporary learning spaces and state of the art facilities. Our commitment to providing exceptional learning environments continues with the development of the final phase of Printworks which will be complete for the next academic year.”
This £10 million phase will revolutionise the computing, business and information technology departments within the School of Technology and incorporate other services that the college offers, including a restaurant, deli, spa and hair salon. Situated on the South Bank development the building will accommodate over 1300 students.
The Leeds Architecture Awards, now in its 26th year, is a celebration of excellence in architectural design. The awards aim to promote a sense of pride in the new developments that are reshaping the city of Leeds and making a major contribution to its future development and prosperity.
